SAN FRANCISCO, May 17, 2010 — The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge® in San Francisco is returning to its roots.

After several years of conducting the race in September at Crissy Field on the Presidio, the new race date is Wednesday, August 4 and the new location is Piers 30 & 32 on the San Francisco Embarcadero.

Registration is now open for the event. Begin your company registration now and be sure to finalize it by Friday, July 23 so you can join more than 300 companies from throughout the Bay Area.

The move to the Embarcadero became necessary due to the Doyle Drive construction project. This makes Crissy Field unavailable to the race, but it creates an opportunity for Corporate Challenge entrants to participate on an equally beautiful course in a very convenient location.

The 3.5-mile race will be an out-and-back course on the Embarcadero, starting south and running through China Basin and behind AT&T Park.

The staging area is easily accessible from BART, Muni and CalTrain, and a short walk from downtown.

August 4 will mark the 26th running of the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in San Francisco. The event was actually founded on the Embarcadero in 1983 and thrived there for several years before damages from the Loma Prieta Earthquake forced the race to take two years off and ultimately move to Fisherman's Wharf, then Crissy Field.

Now back at its original home, the Corporate Challenge is poised to attract record crowds. Last year's event at Crissy Field drew 5,376 runners and walkers from 247 companies.

There are some other exciting changes for 2010:

  • First-place teams in the men's, women's and mixed categories will earn a trip to the 2011 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Championship (location and date: TBD). Qualifying companies must have a strong San Francisco presence, with the company having a locally-based address (or addresses). At least three of the employees on the qualifying team must be employed at the address (or addresses). Individual runners who participated in the 2010 Championship in Johannesburg are not eligible to qualify for the 2011 Championship.
  • The t-shirt contest will now choose two t-shirt winners, with each receiving $1,000 to donate to the charity of their choice.
  • The Most Senior Executive category has been eliminated so the event can more appropriately focus on team accomplishments over individual.

The JPMorgan Chase Foundation will make a donation for each entry to a worthy not-for-profit organization that will be announced prior to event night.

All entrants for the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in San Francisco must be part of a corporate team, with each team needing to register a minimum of four employees. There is no limit to the number of employees that can be on a company team.  Awards will be given to the fastest five men's, women's and mixed teams. If you require assistance registering your company or have any questions please email SanFrancisco@jpmorganchasecc.com or call (866) 758-2845.
