Registration opens for 2009 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Sydney

SYDNEY, August 3, 2009 —Circle the date and alert your colleagues. The 2009 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Sydney is officially set for Wednesday, 11 November at Centennial Park and online team registration is now available.

The 5.6km (3.5 mile) Corporate Challenge, first held in Centennial Park in 2000, last year drew 7,494 participants from 304 companies. Its popularity stems from its versatility, with a high level of competition in the front of the pack, plenty of room for joggers and walkers, and an unmatched level of camaraderie through team building.

The race is also respected for its community impact. The JPMorgan Chase Foundation will make a donation for each entry to a worthy not-for-profit organization (to be announced prior to race night) and event execution is fully green. The 2008 race achieved 100-percent recycling, collecting more than 3.26 tons of general waste.

The team format brings together companies large and small. Among the larger last year were Macquarie Group (378 participants), Rabobank (256), Railcorp (219), UBS (145) and Perpetual Limited (135). But there were dozens of small, entrepreneurial outfits that fielded the minimum of four. If your company employs four or 4,000, there is a spot for you at the Corporate Challenge.

Stephen Thurston of Perpetual Limited was the first finisher in the 2008 race, crossing the finish line in 16:49, 16 seconds in front of McGrathNicol's Charlie Low. Andrea Ilakovac of KPMC outdueled Jane Miles of adidas for the women's title, breaking the tape in 20:09.

The entry fee for the 2009 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Sydney is $50 plus GST per person for entries received by 9 October, and $60 plus GST thereafter.
