Johannesburg, 19 November 2009 — The seventh annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® returns to The Wanderers Club on Thursday 4 March 2010 and is set to be the most exciting race yet.
In March 2010, thousands of Gauteng's elite corporate athletes will again take part in this unique corporate road race with over 450 company teams expected to enter and an expanded capacity of numbers due to popular demand. The 5.6 kilometer road race is open to teams of four or more full-time employees from companies and government organizations and a maximum of 12,010 entries will be accepted for the 2010 race.
The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® is the world's largest corporate road race Series and has drawn more than 6 million runners worldwide since its inception 34 years ago. This road race aims to promote company camaraderie, fitness, well being and corporate networking.
Race entries for the challenge have opened. All the information and forms are available on the Johannesburg Registration Page. Only original forms will be accepted, thus forms should be mailed or hand delivered to the J.P. Morgan offices by Company Captains. Entries close in early February, which means it is best to enter sooner rather than later as there will be a 12,010 entry cut off..
The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® pays homage not only to the winners, but also to a worthy cause in each country. All funds raised during the race, are handed over to not-for-profit organizations globally.
This year, the benefactor of the Johannesburg event will be Adopt a School, a section 21 company that was founded in 2002 by Cyril Ramaphosa and other concerned South Africans. The organization's primary concern is the improvement of education infrastructure and skills development in order to create equal access learning opportunities for all South African children. Adopt a School aims at mobilizing the private sector and individuals to support schools that are in need.
For the first time, the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Championships, which have historically taken place in New York City, will be held in Johannesburg on the same day as the local race. To incorporate the J.P. Morgan Championship race, both races will take place on the 4 March 2010, starting at The Wanderers Club.
“We are very excited for next year's J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge®, especially since we have been given the great honour of being selected as the first country from the global Series to host the J.P. Morgan Corporate Championship. The challenge holds a fantastic appeal in Johannesburg, as companies come together to be healthy, exercise and compete together, as well as enjoy entertainment and hospitality with colleagues. We invite as many companies as possible to participate in the race this year, and have this unique opportunity to network with some of the global teams after the event”, says John Coulter, J.P. Morgan South Africa.
