48th year of J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series features 16 locations, including expansion to Hong Kong
NEW YORK, December 5, 2023 – The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series is beyond the perseverance phase. It is back to flourishing and expanding.
The 2024 Series – the 48th year of the world’s largest and most successful corporate sporting/social event – will feature 3.5-mile (5.6km) road races in 16 cities, including a first-time event in Hong Kong.
JPMorgan Chase – the owner and operator of the Corporate Challenge since its inception in 1977 – today announced the full 2024 Series schedule, with stops in eight different countries on all six fully-inhabited continents. Expansion into Hong Kong, along with retention of all other Series events, is a signal that the Corporate Challenge continues to provide the optimal team bonding experience for another generation of runners, joggers, and walkers in the workplace.
The 2023 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series surged back to health. Following a sensible 2-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-21) and then a ramp-up year in 2022, the 2023 Series roared back with total attendance of 196,366 (12,907 average attendance per event) compared to 111,269 (7,948 average) in 2022. That remarkable 74% rise in total entries portends even bigger crowds and more camaraderie in 2024.
Riding that momentum, Johannesburg will officially launch the 2024 Series schedule on Thursday, March 14. That will begin a 9-month journey that will cover over 40,000 air miles and continue a tradition of workplace fitness that began way back in 1977. In all, the 2024 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge will feature events in the United States, China, Argentina, Australia, England, Germany, Singapore and South Africa.
“We remain committed to the Corporate Challenge and couldn’t be prouder to be expanding the Series,” said Carla Hassan, Chief Marketing Officer, JPMorgan Chase. “It is gratifying to see how the Corporate Challenge continues to be a catalyst between work and wellness, bringing our clients, employees and business communities together around the world.”
Many companies have been participating in the Corporate Challenge for 30 or more years and, in the new definition of the workforce post-COVID, more and more businesses with hybrid workforces are being introduced to the event and appreciate the blend of keen competition and unique post-race hospitality.

Event organizers in each location are poised for additional growth in 2024 with the Series goal to challenge the all-time record for single-season attendance: 267,960 entrants from 8,071 companies in 2014.
When Hong Kong closes the 2024 Series in November it will be the seventh new location to join the Corporate Challenge in 20 years, following Johannesburg and Singapore (2004), Shanghai (2011), and Buenos Aires, Dallas-Fort Worth and Philadelphia (2022). The Series has stayed relevant, in part, through reinvention and expansion.
At the front of the pack, the Corporate Challenge is a world-class amateur 3.5-mile (5.6km) road race. Phil Lambert of DL Trading broke the tape in a tremendous 16:26 on May 18 in Chicago, and that stood up as the fastest male individual time of the 2023 Series. J.P. Morgan’s Lucy Reid posted the fastest female time, logging an astonishing 18:08 on July 6 in London.
In the team competition, the fastest male, female and mixed teams in 2023 ranged from coast-to-coast and across the Atlantic. San Francisco’s Meta logged the best Series male team time on September 7, New York City’s PwC registered the top female team time on June 1, and Polizei Hessen of Frankfurt, Germany put together the fastest female team on June 14.
But the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is so much more than fast times. It is an all-inclusive event, with multinational companies registering employees around the world, to local manufacturing and entrepreneurial outfits registering with pride in one market. Each event also provides a marketing platform for a local not-for-profit organization, with JPMorgan Chase donating in celebration of all entrants.
All 2023 Team Captains will be notified by email when 2024 registration is available in each Corporate Challenge location. Prospective new Team Captains can be added to our email list by contacting the Customer Service Team in their location.
