World's largest road race provides
coaching, confidence for handicapped students
FRANKFURT, April 17, 2008 – The world's largest road race – the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Frankfurt, with an anticipated 70,000 participants on June 11 – will be using its enormous popularity to make a difference in the lives of handicapped students.
JPMorgan in Frankfurt has announced that for the second consecutive year a donation for every Corporate Challenge entry will be made to a multi-tiered program entitled JPMorgan Helps: Handicapped Kids in Motion.
The innovative program provides special coaching, support and athletic materials for young, disabled athletes from low-income families. Its goal is to promote self-confidence, cognitive learning, teamwork, persistence and psychological stability, helping these students to help themselves.
The program will be run by Corporate Challenge beneficiary German Sports Aid (Deutsche Sporthilfe). A number of sports-specific programs will be chosen for children and teens between 12-18. In 2007, for instance, the JPMorgan Helps donation allowed for special coaching for young athletes who are hearing impaired, supported handicapped students in sports-focused boarding schools, and provided special fitting for boats to accommodate handicapped rowers.
Due to the JPMorgan Helps program, German Federal President Horst Koehler is serving as patron for the Corporate Challenge in Frankfurt.
Registration for the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Frankfurt is open on the Corporate Challenge's German language site. Last year's event attracted 67,270 entrants from a staggering 2,446 companies, making it the largest corporate team event of any kind in the world.
